Hydrogen-like heavy ions in strong laserfields — •Manuel Hölß, Norbert Grün, and Werner Scheid — Institut für theoretische Physik II der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen
The behaviour of hydrogen-like heavy ions in strong laser fields at intensities ≈ 1020 W/cm2 is investigated. For that purpose the timedependent Dirac-equation for an electron in the Coulomb potential of the nucleus and in the vectorpotential of a plane electromagnetic wave is solved. This is done with finite elements on a lattice in cylindrical coordinates. The timedependent wavefunction is used to draw conclusions for physical processes like excitation, ionisation and generation of higher harmonics.
