APPLICATIONS OF LASER SPECTROSCOPY — •V.S. Letokhov — Institute of Spectroscopy, Russian Academy of Sciences, Troitsk, Moscow Region, 142190, Russia

After the short historical remarks on the early days and goals of laser applications in spectroscopy I will discuss following applications of laser spectroscopy: atom trapping spectroscopy with ultrahigh spectral resolution, sensitivity and selectivity, ultrasensitive resonance ionization spectroscopy of short-lived nuclei (including photoseparation of nuclear isotopes, isobares and isomers) and multiphoton laser IR vibrational spectroscopy of polyatomic molecules (including photoseparation of isotopes). Conclusion will be devoted to potential future developments.
