Exciton Annihilation in Biological Antenna Systems — •Ben Brüggemann and Volkhard May — Institut für Physik, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Ultrafast pump-probe spectra of the photosynthetic antenna system LH2 are simulated using a multi-exciton density matrix theory. With higher intensities of the pump laser exciton-exciton annihiltion becomes important. Intensity dependent pump-probe experiments could be described in good correspondance. This gives an important insight into the microscopic processes involved e.g. the rate of the internal conversion of single Bacteriochlorophyll molecules in this antenna complex.
