Phosphorus in C60 — •Carola Meyer, M. Waiblinger, K. Lips, W. Harneit, and A. Weidinger — Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin

P@C60 is a stable, endohedral Fullerene with the phosphorus atom caged nearly interactionfree inside the C60 molecule keeping its atomic structure. For the very reactive phosphorus this is quite surprising. The atomic structure is shown in very sharp and definite Electron-Paramagnetic-Resonance (EPR) spectra. Spectroscopy of the solid state is very sensitive on deformations of the cage, which appear in the EPR spectra. Spinrelaxationtimes of phosphorus in C60 are quit long compared to other paramagnetic materials, but significant shorter than the extremely long relaxationtimes in N@C60.
