Nanoporous particle track etched membranes with pore size ranging from 20 to 150nm are prepared from polycarbonate films. The used pattering process is mainly based on heavy ion track etching. Mean pore sizes and pore size distributions for different preparations are determined using SAXS.
PTMs are also used as templates for the preparation of electrodeposited nanowires providing interesting information about the pore shape. The morphologies and the structures of the nanomaterials have been carefully analyzed by FE-SEM.2 The nanotubules synthesised in a commercial membrane are of an elliptical rather than a circular cross-section. The average pore shape of a nanoporous particle etched membrane is determined using SAXS and AFM.
