Transition from non equilibrium to equilibrium morphologies in thin block copolymer films — •Hubert Elbs and Georg Krausch — Physikalische Chemie II, Universität Bayreuth, 95440
During a preparation of thin block copolymer films by standard procedures as spincoating or dipcoating the polymer chains usually do not reach their equilibrium conformation. We study the transition to equilibrium morphologies by treatment with organic solvent vapors. We developed a method to control the dynamics of the preparation process of thin films from concentrated solutions. The results show the dependence of the morphologies on the drying dynamics and on the used solvent. For a better understanding of this dependences we measured concentration dependent Flory-Huggins interaction parameters between polymers and solvents and between different polymers in concentrated solutions by ellipsometry.
