Ternary polymer blend films studied with grazing incidence small angle scattering — •J. S. Gutmann1, P. Müller-Buschbaum2, and M. Stamm1 — 1IPF Dresden, Hohe Str. 6, 01069 Dresden — 2TU München Physik Department LS E13, James-Franck-Str.1, 85747 Garching
typically multicomponent systems, where two or more main
components are mixed in order to achieve synergistic effects. In
addition to these main components additives are commonly added in
order to act as plastifiers or compatibilizers. We investigated
ternary blend systems consisting of two incompatible statistical
poly-styrene-stat-para-bromostyrene polymers and one additive,
which acts either as a plastifier or as a compatibilizer depending
on its molecular weight. While the resulting surface structures
are readily probed with scanning microscopy [1], the internal
structure of the film is investigated with grazing incidence small
angle scattering experiments [2].
