Study of phase separation kinetics in thin polymer films through dynamic self consistent field theory — •Ellen Reister, Marcus Müller und Kurt Binder — Institut fuer Physik, WA331, Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität, 55099 Mainz

We study phase separation in a binary polymer mixture between two hard walls. The walls are either symmetric with both walls attracting the same kind of polymers or antisymmetric with each wall attracting a different species. The polymers are modelled as Gaussian chains. Two methods of introducing dynamics into self consistent field theory are applied: The first method uses the propagation of the densities in time whereas the other method regards the time evolution of the external fields that are the conjugate variables to the densities. For symmetric walls we investigate the formation of enrichment layers at the walls and compare the results obtained through dynamic self consistent field theory with Monte Carlo simulations. For antisymmetric walls we examine the interface localization–delocalization transition.
