Ellipsometric determination of interaction parameters between polymers in solution — •Hubert Elbs and Georg Krausch — Physikalische Chemie II, Universität Bayreuth, 95440
The phase behaviour of polymer mixtures and of block copolymers is strongly influenced by the interactions between the components. Therefore continuous endeavours are made to determine interaction parameters, for instance by use of the inverse gas chromatography [1]. Based on ellipsometry we developed a new method to measure the concentration dependence of Flory-Huggins interaction parameters between polymers and solvents and between different polymers in concentrated solutions. First results are used to explain the dependence of thin film morphologies of block copolymers on the preparation conditions. [1] Y. Guo, B. Gu, Z. Lu, Q. Du J. Appl. Polymer Sci. 71, 693 (1999)
