Infrared spectroscopy of the molecular complexes H2O-N2O and D2O-N2O — •G. Gimmler und M. Havenith — Lehrstuhl für physikalische Chemie II, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Universitätsstr. 150, 44780 Bochum

The weakly bound complexes N2O-H2O and N2O-D2O were observed in a two-dimensional supersonic jet expansion using a leadsalt-diodelaser-spectrometer. Application of a new Herriott-type multipass cell improved the sensitivity significantly. Calculations carried out in our workgroup and microwave spectroscopy [1] found a T-shaped arrangement of the heavy atoms in the complex. The dipole moment and the A-rotational constant indicate an equilibrium structure in which the N2O-molecule shows an angle of about 20 against the intermolecular axis. This rather large angle indicates a second hydrogen bond interaction in the complex. Infrared spectroscopy of the vibrational-rotational modes of the complexes lead us to the intermolecular potentials which are of particular interest for atmospheric chemistry. On the poster we present spectra in the range of the higher frequency stretching vibration of N2O at 2224 cm−1 as well as the results of their analysis. 0cm
