We have developed a method, using a complex absorbing potential [1,2] together with the Fourier Grid Hamiltonian Representation [3], to study the formation of molecules by Feshbach resonances within a time-independent formalism.

Diagonalization of the Hamiltonian yields complex eigenvalues, from which we extract both the energy and the width of the resonances.

As a first application, we have studied the predissociation of the Cs2 C 1Πu state coupled to the dissociative (2)3Σu+ state : the inverse reaction in a Cs gas at room temperature has been observed as an efficient channel for dimer formation in the parity violation experiment of M. Linz and M. A. Bouchiat [4]. Other schemes in cold atomic samples will be presented at the conference.
