Enhancement of positron annihilation on molecules due to capture into vibrational Feshbach resonances — •Gleb Gribakin — Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Queen’s University, Belfast BT7 1NN, UK
Positron interaction with the Kr dimer is considered using the zero-range potential model. Although the positron cannot be bound by a Kr atom, it forms bound states with the dimer. Vibrational excitations of the Kr-Kr-positron complex manifest as resonances in the positron-molecule continuum. They enhance the energy-averaged annihilation rate by an order of magnitude compared to the direct (background) annihilation rate obtained when the vibrational motion is frozen.
