Dinitrogen pentoxide is an important stratospheric reservoir of the NOx family of gases that play a key role in stratospheric ozone depletion. In the troposphere it is linked to the processes that create and destroy the NO3 radical and is involved in the transportation of NOx from colder to warmer regions of the atmosphere. We have measured the absorption cross sections of dinitrogen pentoxide (N2O5) in the range of 5 to 19 eV using Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS). We contrasted the data obtained with a vacuum ultraviolet study in the range of 140 to 240 nm ( 5 to 9 eV). In this range the two data sets were in good agreement. Above 9 eV, we observed a strong peak at  9.7 eV and smaller scale structure between 11 and 13 eV. Little structure was observed at the higher energy losses studied.
