Ultrafast dynamics in excited OClO molecules analyzed by femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy — •Volker Stert, Hans-Herrmann Ritze, Parviz Farmanara, and Wolfgang Radloff — Max-Born-Institut für Nichtlineare Optik und Kurzzeitspektroskopie, Max-Born-Str. 2A, D-12489 Berlin
The different relaxation and fragmentation channels of OClO molecules excited by 50fs laser pulses at 398nm have been analyzed in pump-probe experiments by the coincident detection of photoions and photoelectrons. In particular, the analysis of the photoelectron spectra for the parent as well as the product ions (ClO+, O2+, Cl+) allows to elucidate the distinct contributions to the molecule dynamics which are suggested by the time-dependent ion signals of the different species. Besides the main contribution, which is characterized by internal conversion from the 2A2 state to the closely spaced electronic 2A1 and 2B2 states (time constant: 7ps) followed by fast dissociation (250fs), two additional channels with distinct excitation levels have been identified.
