Using a recently improved trochoidal electron monochromator in conjunction with a quadrupole mass spectrometer we have measured electron attachment cross sections for Cl2O in the energy range from 0 up to 10 eV.

Besides the parent anion we have also studied and detected the following fragment ions: Cl, ClO, Cl2 & O. The present study allows to clarify previous discrepancies in the literature.

Other gases also under study in our laboratory at present include Cl2 and SF5CF3.
