The study of vector correlations between photoelectrons and fragmented ions via angle resolved coincidence spectroscopy makes it possible to derive angular distributions in the molecule frame even for free molecules. In case of homonuclear, diatomic molecules these angular distributions contain information about the coherence of the photoemission process, which means that both atomic sites contribute equally to the emission of the photoelectron wave [1]. The analysis of such coherence properties is however in many respects ambiguous as there is no clear experimental distinction between incoherent and coherent photoelectron emission. We report on a new experiment in which we try to resolve this problem by measuring coincidences between the photoelectron and the different final states of fragmented ions.
