The Resonant Dark-Reaction of 9-(N-Carbazolyl)-Anthracene and its 10-Cyano Derivative: Experiments Aimed to Identify a Modeselective Electron-Transfer Reaction in a Molecular Beam — •Christian Monte1, Elke Heinecke2, Wolfgang Rettig1, and Peter Zimmermann2 — 1Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Humboldt University of Berlin — 2Institute of Atomic and Analytical Physics, Technical University Berlin
9-(N-carbazolyl)-anthracene (C9A) and its 10-cyano derivative (CC9A) have been shown to exhibit a resonant dark reaction with mode specific character in molecular beam experiments. Recent theoretical investigations supported the attribution of the dark-reaction in the molecular beam experiments to a reaction populating a charge transfer state.
Currently we try to directly identify the charge transfer character of the dark-reaction by measuring the dipole moment of a mixed state in the region of the resonant reaction. This is done by measuring the Stark shift of rotationaly resolved lines of the molecules. First results of these experiments will be presented.
