Dissociation Dynamics of H2+ in Intense Laser Fields — •Frank Rebentrost — Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik, 85748 Garching

We report a theoretical investigation of the photodissociation of H2+  by ultrashort intense laser pulses. The conditions were chosen as in the recent experiment at MPQ in which fs-pulses with peak powers ∼ 1014 W/cm2 were employed [1]. Our wave-packet calculations give a clear picture of the relative contributions of single vibronic levels. The special behaviour of the n=12 level is confirmed showing trapping in the adiabatic light-induced molecular potential. One- and two-photon processes are distinguished in the final kinetic-energy release. Based on these results a simulation of the experimental projected momentum distributions is presented.
