The intrinsic parameters δ1 and ξ1 characterizing the dynamics of Auger decay have been determined for the Kr M4,5N1N2,3 1P1 Auger transitions by measuring the angular distribution of the transferred spin polarization of the Auger electrons after primary ionization with circularly polarized radiation (UE56/1 at BESSY-II). Furthermore a detailed investigation of the equations relating the intrinsic parameters to Auger amplitudes and phase shift differences reveals the existence of a new fundamental connection between these parameters similar to the case of closed shell photoionization. The connecting relations have been derived explicitly for a (d3/2)−1 and (d5/2)−1 initial state. A detailed analysis of the Kr M4,5N1N2,3 1P1 transitions in terms of Auger amplitude ratios and phase shift differences unveils a situation actually very close to the LS-coupling limit.
