The photon induced Ne+ 2p4 (3P) 3p 4P3/2–satellite is populated only through autoionization, because it is forbidden in LS-coupling. These autoionization resonances are well known and can be assigned easiliy. Using linear polarized light from BESSY II, high resolution studies applying photon induced fluorescence spectroscopy (PIFS) resolve the finestructure splitting of the Ne 2p4 (3P) 3p 2P3/2,1/2 ns,nd Rydberg series, which decay into the Ne+ 2p4 (3P) 3p 4P3/2–satellite. Measuring the alignment parameter A20 of the Ne+ 2p4 (3P) 3p 4P3/2–state, the ns– and nd–series show different values. The experimental results allow to conclude that the autoionization of the ns–electron occurs predominantly through the emission of the s1/2–partial wave, while for nd–electrons the d5/2–partial wave dominates.
