Parameter study on large helicon device VINETA — •Christian Franck, Thomas Klinger, and Christiane Schröder — Ernst-Moritz-Arndt Universität, Institut für Physik, 17489 Greifswald
The experiment VINETA is a large size helicon device with versatile magnetic configuration. Plasma densities of up to ne ≤ 1019m−3 can be established in its 4.5m long and 40cm in diameter chamber. The particular strength lies within the magnetic field configuration which is fully flexible and allows a remote controlled operation with field gradients or mirror fields. Plasma parameters are measured by two 2D-positioning systems with a high spatial resolution. In this paper, we present a detailed study of the distribution of plasma density, space potential and magnetic fluctuations under several magnetic conditions.
