Drift waves are pressure driven instabilities in magnetized plasmas. They belong to the class of universal instabilities and play an important role in a wide variety of experimental setups. Recent results show that drift waves can be synchronized with spatiotemporal driver signals. Therefore a octupole arrangement of electrodes is used to apply sinusoidal signals with fixed phase relation to the plasma. With this method it is possible to synchronise drift waves even in the initial case of weak drift wave turbulence. The presented experiments were conducted in the linear magnetized, low beta plasma experiment KIWI (Kiel Instrument for Wave Investigations) and compare the radial E × B transport with and without external driver signal for various initial states.
