We report on measurements of the line profiles and Stark widths of two (6s 5S − 6p 5P) quintet transitions of Xe III. The measurements are performed in a gas-liner pinch discharge. Simultaneously to the spectroscopic measurements the plasma is diagnosed with Thomson scattering giving the plasma parameters to ne =(0.6 - 1.2) · 1018 cm−3 and kBTe = (3 - 8) eV. The line widths of the measured transitions are compared to former investigations on the same transitions and agreement is found. We give an experimental electron density scaling of the Stark width of these transitions for plasma diagnostic purposes.
