Quasi onedimensional condensates — •Helge Kreutzmann — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Hannover, Appelstraße 2, 30167 Hannover
Quasi 1D-BEC condensates have been experimentally achieved by transferring a BEC condensate created in a hybrid magnetic and dipole trap into a pure dipole potential (donought mode). The condensate is thus confine in a hollow blue-detuned laser beam having a large density distribution along the longitudinal direction while the transverse directions are of the order of the healing lenght. We study the properties of these quasi-1D condensates. In particular we focus on the dynamics related to the loading process and its posterior expansion. The phase fluctuations are also analyzed.
