Operation of cw I2–Raman lasers in hollow waveguides — •Manuel Klug1, Sergei Kablukov2, and Bernd Wellegehausen11Institute of Quantum Optics, University of Hannover, Welfengarten 1, D-30167 Hannover, Germany — 2Institute of Automation and Electrometry, University of Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk 630090, Russia

Recently, highly stable molecular iodine Raman laser operation on more than 150 lines between 544 nm and 1330 nm has been demonstrated [1]. As pump source a cw frequency doubled monolithic Nd:YAG laser with an output power up to 500 mW is used. To enhance the interaction length with high intensity, experiments with iodine filled hollow waveguides have been started. Lasing in waveguides with 200 µm inner diameter and 50 cm length in standing wave resonators with thresholds below 40 mW have been achieved so far. Investigations on these novel resonator configurations in comparison to conventional setups will be reported.
