Adjustable external resonator for broad area diode lasers — •Danilo Skoczowsky, Volker Raab, and Ralf Menzel — Universität Potsdam, Am Neuen Palais 10, 14469 Potsdam
We operate broad area diode lasers in different kinds of external
resonators. On this behalf the outcoupling facet posesses an AR
coating to prevent the semiconductor chip from lasing on its own.
We then investigate the angular dependence of the stability and efficiency
of the resulting laser mode.
Our setup consists of two crossed cylindrical resonators separately
for the slow- and the fast-axis of the laser. Along the slow axis we
can obtain either a single-beam emission or an emission of two beams
with excellent parallelicity and adjustable separation. Calculations and
experiments almost perfectly coincide.
With these kinds of setup excellent beam qualities of M2<2 can be obtained
even from broad area diode lasers.
