Shape and colour of the laser light for GEO 600 — •Hartmut Grote1, Andreas Freise1, Karsten Danzmann1,2, and the GEO600 Team1,21Institut für Atom- und Molekülphysik, Callinstr.38, 30167 Hannover — 2Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik, Callinstr.38, 30167 Hannover

The laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors which will soon start taking data need a highly stabilised light source in order to reach their proposed sensitivities[1]. The Nd:YAG ring laser used for the GEO 600 detector has to be stabilised in frequency, geometry and amplitude. We will give an overview of the implemented techniques for stabilising the laser light in beam shape and frequency using two suspended 8 m ring resonators. The performance of the system is presented, especially the achieved noise reduction.
