Decoherence of a Trapped Ion in a Cavity — •Christian Di Fidio and Werner Vogel — Fachbereich Physik, Universität Rostock, Universitätsplatz 3, 18051 Rostock
A Raman scheme is considered in order to realize various types of interactions of electronic and motional degrees of freedom of a trapped ion with a quantized cavity field. Quantum correlations can be established between the atomic motion and the cavity output field. The relevant decoherence effects are due to quantum jumps, which are studied by quantum trajectory methods.
