Can M2 be determined using Shack-Hartmann measurements? — •B. Neubert1, G. Huber1, and W.-D. Scharfe2 — 1Institut für Laser-Physik, Jungiusstr. 9a, 20355 Hamburg — 2Rofin-Sinar Laser, Berzeliusstr. 83, 22113 Hamburg
Shack-Hartmann detectors are wavefront sensors widely used in optics. It was proposed to use Shack-Hartmann pictures to measure the times diffraction limit number M2. In this talk an example of Hermite-Gaussian beams is used to demonstrate that one Shack-Hartmann picture is not sufficient to determine M2.
