We present to our knowledge for the first time a cw - diode pumped Nd:GdVO4 laser on the 4F3/2 - 4I9/2 - ground state transition at 912nm. The maximum output power was 190 mW at 1.2 W input power with a slope efficiency of 24 %. Intracavity frequency doubling with LiB3O12 was shown with a maximum output power of 30 mW at 456 nm.

In addition the spectral data of the crystal will be presented with regard to the better well known and identical structured Nd:YVO4.
