Dark solitons and vortices in two-component Bose-Einstein condensates — •Luis Santos and Patrik Öhberg — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Appelstr.2, D-30167 Hannover
We analyze the creation, stability and interaction of dark solitons and vortices in two–component Bose-Einstein condensates. For the case of miscible components, we consider the interaction of dark solitons in different components, analyzing the possible scenarios, which include the formation of a bound soliton-soliton pair. For the immiscible case, we show that a dark soliton can be either transferred from one component to the other at a domain wall, or reflected at it. Finally, we consider the interaction of vortices in different components, which presents quantitative and qualitative differences respect to the interaction of single-component vortices. In particular, if the two components present different densities, the formation of concentric vortex orbits is discussed.
