Coherence of outcoupled atoms in pulsed atom laser — •T. Gasenzer1, J. Ruostekoski2, and D.A.W. Hutchinson3 — 1Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford University, UK — 2University of Hertfortshire, Hatfield, UK — 3University of Otago, Dunedin, NZ
We consider a Raman-type process to couple atoms out of a trapped Bose-Einstein-Condensate by application of two pulsed laser beams. The trap modes are evaluated in Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approximation for a spherical trap containing a cloud of Rubidium atoms at finite temperature. The optical laser beams are focused to the center of the atomic cloud. We study the 2nd order coherence in the outcoupled atom beam in the limit of short laser pulses as well as for longer pulse lengths.
