The study of the interconversion of different forms of bi-partite entanglement is a central issue in quantum information theory. Entanglement measures quantify entanglement as a resource and provide information about the interconvertibility of states. A useful concept in this context is the regularized version of an entanglement measure. It is the average entanglement per copy in the asymptotic limit, i.e. in the abstract limit of infinitely many copies of the same quantum state. We present the first detailed investigation of a regularized measure of entanglement, the regularized relative entropy of entanglement. We calculate explicit values for states with a high symmetry. The implications on the issue of genuine irreversibility of asymptotic entanglement manipulation are outlined. We also address the question of the existence of bound entangled states which have a non-positive partial transpose.
