Study of the internal structure of jets in Charged Current DIS at HERA — •Monica Vazquez — ZEUS/DESY, Notkestr.85, D-22603 Hamburg
Studies of the internal structure of jets in charged current deep-inelastic ep scattering (e+p → ν + jet + X) using the data collected with the ZEUS detector at HERA are presented. Jets have been identified using the kT-cluster algorithm in the laboratory frame. The structure of jets has been studied in terms of jet shape and subjet multiplicity defined as the number of clusters in a jet obtained by reapplying the jet algorithm at a smaller resolution scale. The jet shape and the mean subjet multiplicity have been measured for jets with transverse energies ETjet > 15 GeV. The dependence of these quantities on the jet pseudorapidity (ηjet) and ETjet has been studied. The jet shape and the mean subjet multiplicity show no dependence on ηjet. The mean subjet multiplicity decreases as ETjet increases. Leading-logarithm parton-shower Monte Carlo calculations describe well the data. The measurements have been compared with those in neutral current deep-inelastic ep scattering. The good agreement observed between them confirms that the mechanism by which a quark gives rise to a jet is to a large extent independent of the hard scattering process.
