Determination of the W mass from semi-leptonic W decays with the detector ALEPH — •Guillaume Leibenguth and Richard Cavanaugh — Kirchhoff Institut für Physik, Schröderstraße 90, 69120 Heidelberg
At LEP2, since the energy is above the WW pair production threshold, a direct reconstruction can be used to determine the W mass. Preliminary results of the ALEPH Collaboration using the full LEP2 statistics in the semi-leptonic channel (WW → ℓ ν q q) will be discussed. The analysis is divided into three parts: a very pure and efficient selection of semileptonic events, the kinematic reconstruction and the extraction of the W mass using a multi-reweighting technique. Finally, cross checks will be presented and the systematic uncertainty of the hadronization will be the most important contribution to the total systematic error.
