Future hadron collider experiments at the upgraded Tevatron and at the LHC are expected to record large to huge samples of tt events with which, among other things, the correlations between the t and t spins can be measured. These correlations are a good tool for investigating the interactions that affect t t production and decay, if precise Standard Model predictions of the production of these quark pairs in a general spin configuration and of their subsequent decays are available. Therefore we have computed, at next-to-leading order (NLO) in the QCD coupling, the spin density matrices describing tt production and decay. Predictions for a number of tt spin correlation observables are presented.
