Pulse Shape Analysis of Signals from the sixfold segmented MINIBALL HPGe detector using the on-board Digital Signal Processor of the XIA DGF-4C ADC card — •Martin Lauer, Christoph Gund, Heiko Scheit, and Dirk Schwalm — MPI für Kernphysik, Heidelberg
To improve the performance of the MINIBALL array [1] in experiments involving fast moving γ emitters and correspondingly large Dopplershifts, all signals of the individual sixfold segmented Ge-detector modules will be subjected to a pulse shape analysis (PSA), as rather detailed investigations [1,2] have shown that by using simple PSA algorithms the granularity of the individual modules can be increased from 6 to about 100.
These PSA algorithms have been implemented on the four channel CAMAC Module DGF-4C produced by XIA [3] using the trace data provided by the 40 MHz flash ADCs and the onboard digital signal processor to perform the PSA in realtime. The DGF-4C module will be introduced shortly, the PSA algorithms will be explained, and the total processing time will be compared with the readout overhead in case the traces are read out to be analyzed offline by a host computer. Measurements using collimated γ sources will be presented demonstrating the position resolution achieved.
