Dyson-Schwinger equations have proven to be a well suited and versatile tool for the nonperturbative investigation of the propagators of gluons, ghosts and quarks [1]. On the one hand, the infrared behaviour of these propagators is intimately tied to the confinement problem. On the other hand, the connection to phenomenology is straightforward because the propagators are the basic ingredients to the calculation of mesonic and baryonic bound states using the Bethe-Salpeter equation. In this talk we focus on the interplay of the Dyson-Schwinger and Bethe-Salpeter equations as well as on the analytical and numerical methods that are used to obtain solutions.
