Production and propagation of neutral strange particles in the Ru+Ru reaction at 1.69A GeV — •Christian Finck — Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, 64291 Darmstadt
Hadron matter under extreme conditions of temperature and density can be studied in heavy ion collisions. It has been predicted that hadrons change their properties in a nuclear medium. In particular the mass of K+ and K− mesons vary differently with increasing density. This could be viewed as a signature of partial restoration of chiral symmetry. Such in-medium effects have been evidenced for charged strange mesons K+ and K− recently in the Ni+Ni and Ru+Ru/Zr collisions measured with the FOPI detector. In an attempt to study the strangeness sector as completely as possible, neutral particles such as Ks0 mesons or Λ hyperons were measured in addition which should give a complementary insight on this interesting physic topic.
Results of Ks0 and Λ production and their propagation in Ru+Ru/Zr reactions at SIS energies will be presented. The reconstruction method will be discussed as well as the efficiency derived from full scale Monté-Carlo simulations. The dependence of the differential directed flow on transverse momentum as well as rapidity distributions will be discussed. Both of these observables will be compared to the charged kaon data measured in the same experiment and to model predictions.
