Strange quark matter in a separable model — •Christian Gocke1, David Blaschke1, and Michael Buballa2 — 1Universität Rostock, FB Physik, 18051 Rostock — 2TU Darmstadt, Inst. f. Kernphysik, 64289 Darmstadt
We present the thermodynamics of a nonlocal chiral quark model with separable 4-fermion interaction for the case of U(3) flavor symmetry. The four free parameters of the model are fixed by the chiral condensate, and the pseudoscalar meson properties (pion mass, kaon mass, pion decay constant). We discuss the influence of 4-momentum dependent formfactors on the stiffness of the EoS, in particular we compare results of a soft formfactor with the cutoff (NJL) model. We apply our results to the study of quark stars assuming β-equilibrium with electrons and calculate the mass-radius relation as a solution of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation. Consequences for the possible occurrence of strange stars or strange quark matter in compact stars are detailed.
