The REX-ISOLDE IH-Structure — •Stephan Emhofer1, Dieter Habs1, Oliver Kester1, Henning Bongers1, Thomas Sieber1, and Ulrich Ratzinger21Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Am Coulombwall 1, D-85748 Garching — 2Institut für Angewandte Physik, Johann Wolfgang Goethe- Universität, Robert-Mayer-Str. 2-4, D-60325 Frankfurt am Main

For the REX-ISOLDE-Project an IH-drift-tube-linac has been developed, which is similar to the IH-accelerators of the Lead-LINAC at CERN and the GSI-HLI. The REX-ISOLDE IH-structure is used as an accelerator for radioactive ions with a charge to mass ratio up to 4.5. The ions are injected with an energy of 300 keV/u and accelerated to variable energies between 1.1 MeV/u and 1.2 MeV/u. The resonator has a length of 1.5 m with 20 gaps inside. It operates at a resonance-frequency of 101.28 MHz with a duty cycle of 10 percent. The mechanical and electrodynamical design of this accelerator will be presented as well as perturbation-ball measurements and power tests.
