Noise measurements of tunnelmagnetoresistive elements — •Rolf Schmitz, Simon Stein, and H.H. Kohlstedt — Forschungszentrum Jülich, Institut für Festkörperforschung (IFF), 52425 Jülich
We report on noise measurements of UV-oxidized and plasma-oxidized magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs). Our interest focuses on the low frequency voltage noise. We compare the voltage noise spectra at different applied magnetic fields, changing from the parallel state of the magnetization to the antiparallel state. No significant changes in the range of 1 Hz up to 1 kHz have been observed at room temperature. The dominating noise at these frequencies is 1/fα-type. The difference in the overall noise levels with a factor of about two higher for the UV-oxidized junction than for the plasma-oxidized junction could be found.
