Anisotropy Effects in La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 Thin Films on Vicinal Cut SrTiO3 Substrates — •Rainer Praus and Hans-Ullrich Habermeier — MPI-FKF Heisenbergstrasse 1 70569 Stuttgart

We report on anisotropy effects in magnatization, hysteresis, and transport data of epitaxial La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 films. The films were grown by pulsed laser deposition on vicinal cut SrTiO3 (001) substrates with a tilt angle of 10. These substrates have a stepped surface and step edges are aligned along the [010] direction. All measurements are classified with regard to these steps. Magnetic measurements were performed with the magnetic field vector in the film plane. The form of the hysteresis curve shows a distinct dependence on the angle between the magnetic field and the step edges. Furthermore this hysteresis anisotropy is affected by the film thickness. Both in zero field cooled as in field cooled magnetization measurements we observed an influence of the field orientation with regard to the step edges on the magnetization. The transport properties also reveal a clear anisotropy.
