Two-photon photoelectron emission microscopy of magnetic nanostructures — •F. Kronast, H.A. Dürr, and W. Eberhardt — Institut für Festkörperforschung,Forschungszentrum Jülich, 52425 Jülich
The interaction of high-intensity pulsed-laser radiation with surfaces can result in the emission of electrons after multiphoton absorption events. We investigated this process by combining a photoelectron emission microscope (PEEM) with a fsec-laser system. The spatial and angular distribution of photoelectrons was investigated for magnetic nanostructures grown on a lithographically patterned Si substrate. We show that for magnetic dots of 200 nm x 200 nm size there is a pronounced dependence of the emission characteristics on the light polarization. The influence of the sample mangetization was studied by analyzing the spin of the emitted photoelectrons.
