The magnetic phase diagrams of the Fe2+ doped hexagonal ABX3 compounds CsNi0.98Fe0.02Cl3 and CsNi0.9Fe0.1Cl3 are investigated measuring the heat capacity and the magnetocaloric effect. Considering the large amount of impurity ions, the phase boundaries appear surprisingly well-defined. This proves that doping is an effective means to manipulate the anisotropy in the quasi one-dimensional ABX3 compounds. We observe the same phase sequence in both samples, including the new umbrella phase, and discuss the effective anisotropies.
