We established an experimental technique to study space- and time-resolved configurational fluctuations of a 15 nm large Cu3Au nano-particle at the order-disorder phase transformation by a modified high-resolution TEM technique. Our HRTEM observations and complementary Monte Carlo simulations show evidence for a strong coupling between concentration and order fluctuations, affirming our conjecture that the coupling is mediated by thermodynamic driving forces occurring just below the order-disorder phase transformation temperature.
