Elastic properties of THF clathrate hydrates — •Sascha Eschborn and Rudolf Feile — Technische Universität Darmstadt
The elastic properties and the local hydrogen bonding of THF clathrate hydrate single crystals stable at normal pressure and below 4∘C are investigated by Raman and Brillouin spectroscopy. Through the comparison of the spectra with corresponding spectra of ice and THF in the solid, liquid and gaseous phase, we conclude about the possibilities of motion of the enclathrated molecules. Spectra taken at different temperatures give information about a hindered reorientation of the THF molecules.
