Kondo resonances in single and electrostatically coupled quantum dots — •Jörg Schmid, Matthias Keller, Ulf Wilhelm, Jürgen Weis, Karl Eberl, and Klaus von Klitzing — Max-Planck-Institut für Festkörperforschung, D-70569 Stuttgart, Germany
We present new results on Kondo resonances [1] in the transport through different types of quantum dots: (a) Kondo resonances are not restricted to odd electron numbers [2]. This observation is understood when not only the different spin configurations, but also the different tunnel-couplings of electronic states are taken into account. (b) Electrostatically coupled quantum dots with separate leads are discussed as a new experimental realization of the Anderson impurity model [3] with additional control over degeneracy and tunnel-coupling.
