Modular recursive Green’s function method for ballistic magnetotransport — •Stefan Rotter, Ludger Wirtz, and Joachim Burgdörfer — Institut für Theoretische Physik, TU Wien, Austria
An extension of the standard recursive Green’s function method
for ballistic quantum transport through open quantum dots
is presented. By decomposing the scattering geometry into
separable substructures (modules) the transport coefficients
for a variety of dot geometries can be calculated with high
accuracy even for high wave numbers.[∗] We compare results
for two prototype structures which play an important role in the
study of regular and chaotic dynamics: the circular and the
stadium shaped quantum dot.
The modular recursive Green’s
function method is extended to
transport in a magnetic field which requires the proper
treatment of asymptotic scattering boundary conditions and
preservation of gauge invariance. This opens the doorway to a
comparison with recent experiments on magnetotransport through
quantum dots.
