Photonic crystals (PCs), fabricated by electro-chemical pore etching,
are of increasing interest for applications in the IR (1.5 µm, C-band
of telecommunication).
Because of the high aspect ratio of the pores (depth/diameter > 100)
the hexagonal crystal lattices can be theoretically described as
two-dimensional.
Band structures (dispersion) of TM- and TE-polarization
are discussed for varying pore sizes and shapes (circles, ellipses,
rectangles) with respect to the maximum band gaps attainable.
The poster discusses theoretical results of band structure calculations
(plane wave approach, [1]), as well as transmittance and reflectivity
computations in relation to experimental measurements [2].
